Doom Prevails: the Grixis precon led by Doctor Doom
Marvel Super Heroes (set code MSC) is the Universes Beyond crossover between Magic and the Marvel universe. It releases June 26, 2026, after an in-store prerelease from June 19 to 25. The set comes with four ready-to-play Commander decks, each tied to a faction of the Marvel universe — a good way to get into the set without building from scratch (see our set pre-launch guide).
Doom Prevails is the Grixis deck in the lineup. Its headliner is Doctor Doom, King of Latveria, but you can also run it with an alternate commander, Loki, the Deceiver. Like the other three precons, it packs 29 brand-new cards (the 2 commanders and 27 others) and 70 reprints, for 99 cards excluding the commander.

The game plan: Villains, connive, and life drain
The deck rests on three pillars: a team of Villains, the connive keyword, and life-point drain. The idea is to deploy your villains, filter your draws, then bleed the table turn after turn rather than hunting for a single big game-winning play.
First introduced in Streets of New Capenna (2022), connive works like this: you draw as many cards as the listed value, then discard the same number. Each nonland card discarded this way puts a +1/+1 counter on the creature. The mechanic therefore rewards discarding — exactly what Doctor Doom is after.
Legendary Creature {1}{U}{B}{R}, 3/3 — Human Noble Villain (Mythic Rare). Whenever you discard one or more land cards, each opponent loses 2 life. At the beginning of combat, target Villain gains menace, then connives.

In practice, discarding lands becomes an offensive resource: each discard cycle chips away at opponents' life while your Villains grow and push through thanks to menace. The deck turns a mechanic often seen as defensive — filtering your hand — into an engine of recurring damage.
Note: the character is known as Docteur Fatalis in French Marvel localizations, but the localized name of the Magic card hasn't been confirmed yet. We're keeping the English title until Wizards publishes the French version.
Key cards and Loki as alternate commander
Beyond Doctor Doom, the precon offers a second face: Loki, the Deceiver. This alternate commander steers the deck toward copying and deception. Per the revealed card, when Loki attacks, he creates a token copy — tapped and attacking — of another Villain you control (the token is sacrificed at end of turn); and whenever one or more of your Villains deal combat damage to a player, you draw a card. A craftier angle than Doom's head-on aggression, one that rewards grouped villain assaults.
The preview, by content creator Crim (TheAsianAvenger), revealed the deck's 27 new cards in addition to the two commanders. Among the standout names: Lady Loki, Kang Dynasty, Molecule Man, and Helmut Zemo — a villain cast in keeping with the Villains theme.

Releasing June 26, 2026, but delays in Europe
The set releases worldwide on June 26, 2026. In early June, however, Wizards announced distribution delays on part of the Marvel Super Heroes lineup in five regions, including Europe (EMEA).
The Commander decks — Doom Prevails included — are among the affected products in Europe. They'll arrive in two waves: a first one in time for launch, a second a bit later. Protecting and storing your Commander precon
A Commander deck means 100 cards handled every game. For a collectible precon like Doom Prevails, sleeving isn't optional: it protects the cards from finger grease, nicks, and shuffle wear. For a 100-card singleton deck, a pack of 100 opaque sleeves is exactly the right count.
