With the Marvel Super Heroes set, Wizards of the Coast is releasing four preconstructed Commander decks on June 26, 2026, including The Fantastic Four. This precon adopts an uncommon color identity — four colors without black — and offers four interchangeable foil commanders, led by Mister Fantastic. Here's an overview of its contents, its game plan built around noncreature spells, and the gear to protect and store it right from purchase.

The Fantastic Four: the four-color Commander precon from Marvel Super Heroes

The Fantastic Four Commander deck is one of the four Commander precons shipping with the Marvel Super Heroes set. The other three are Avengers Assemble (red/white/blue), Wakanda Forever (green/white), and Doom Prevails (blue/black/red). All four arrive together on June 26, 2026: there's no staggered release and no "final" deck in the series.

Before that date, Prerelease events run from June 19 to 25, 2026. Each deck is a ready-to-play 100-card list. The Fantastic Four sports a four-shade identity — red, green, white, and blue — essentially Bant plus red. It's one of the rare precons to embrace this many colors without touching black. Not to be confused with Marvel's Spider-Man, the previous set: this deck belongs squarely to Marvel Super Heroes.

Four commanders for a single team

The standout feature of The Fantastic Four is offering four foil commanders playable as your commander: Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. You designate only one at a time to lead your deck — there's no partner mechanic that lets you pair them up.

Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards) is the default featured commander. Nothing stops you, however, from putting Invisible Woman (Sue Storm), Human Torch (Johnny Storm), or The Thing (Ben Grimm) at the helm to reshape the strategy. It's a genuine replayability perk: a single precon offers four starting points, with nothing extra to buy.

The commander faces come in foil (traditional and surge), and a Collector's Edition of the deck is also available. The set additionally comes with two Commander promo cards: Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards and Echo, Perceptive Prodigy.

The game plan: one big noncreature spell per turn

The Fantastic Four is built around noncreature spells: instants, sorceries, artifacts, enchantments, and planeswalkers. The idea isn't to chain together lots of small spells, but to cast a single, sizable one each turn. This rhythm feeds the team's triggered abilities, which reward this style over a classic creature deployment.

Mister Fantastic serves as the pivot for this mechanic: he lets you copy key triggered abilities, multiplying the effect of your most important spells. The deck therefore calls for a bit of sequencing — picking the right spell, at the right moment.

This direction also brings a strategic advantage: a deck that relies less on its creatures weathers board wipes better, which are frequent in multiplayer Commander. In return, ordering your spells well rewards practice.

The precon includes around twenty new cards designed for this game plan, rounded out by reprints suited to the archetype. Enough to have a functional base right out of the box, to fine-tune afterward to your liking.

Protecting and storing your precon right out of the box

A Commander deck is exactly 100 cards. Whether you keep the list as-is or upgrade it, the first step is to sleeve it: a precon gets handled a lot, shuffled every game, and travels between game nights. A pack of 100 opaque sleeves covers the entire deck in one go.

For regular use, matte sleeves cut down glare and shuffle smoothly. Dragon Shield Matte in the 100-count format are a proven go-to for this purpose.

Once sleeved, the deck gets thicker: it needs a deck box able to hold 100 sleeved cards without cramming them. A 150-card capacity leaves the necessary margin, especially if you double-sleeve your most fragile cards.

Key takeaways

The Fantastic Four is a four-color Commander precon (red/green/white/blue) available June 26, 2026 with Marvel Super Heroes, featuring four foil commanders and a game plan geared toward big noncreature spells. It remains to be seen how the community will optimize it against its three sibling decks — and which other sets will punctuate the year, as detailed in our Magic 2026 calendar. Which of the four commanders will lead your games?
