But he had unwittingly brought with him the <strong>Phyrexian oil<\/strong>, the corruption that turned life into evil machinery.<\/p>\n\n<p>Mirrodin had become <strong>New Phyrexia<\/strong> \u2014 a nightmare of fused flesh and corrupted metal. He scoured the Multiverse in search of it, knowing it might be the only hope.<\/p>\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the <strong>praetors<\/strong> of New Phyrexia had not been idle.<\/p>\n\n<h2>The Evolution of the Praetors<\/h2>\n\n<p>The five praetors \u2014 Elesh Norn, Jin-Gitaxias, Sheoldred, Urabrask, and Vorinclex \u2014 had been developing New Phyrexia for years. The local heroes managed to drive him back, but not before he obtained what he was seeking.<\/p>\n\n<h2>The Compleation of Heroes<\/h2>\n\n<p>The worst was yet to come. The peaceful scholar, keeper of the Multiverse's stories, became an agent of Phyrexia. This horror demonstrated that no one was safe.<\/p>\n\n<p>Others would follow. Beloved heroes, trusted allies, transformed into deadly enemies.<\/p>\n\n<h2>New Capenna<\/h2>\n\n<figure class=\"mtg-card mtg-card-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scryfall.com\/card\/snc\/206\/fr\/ob-nixilis-ladversaire-(ob-nixilis-the-adversary)?utm_source=api\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Voir sur Scryfall\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cards.scryfall.io\/normal\/front\/c\/5\/c5fb71f8-2e0b-4d8f-9d8c-b4864170ef7c.jpg?1651600471\" alt=\"Ob Nixilis, the Adversary\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Ob Nixilis saw an opportunity in the demons of New Capenna \u2014 chaos was his element.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>While the Phyrexian threat grew, other crises drew the attention of the planeswalkers. <strong>New Capenna<\/strong>, an art deco city ruled by five demonic crime families, became the stage for a conflict over the control of a unique substance: <strong>Halo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Halo, distilled from angels, was the only substance capable of repelling demons. The angels had sacrificed their existence to create Halo and protect the city.<\/p>\n\n<p>And now, the Phyrexians were returning.<\/p>\n\n<h2>The Phyrexian Connection<\/h2>\n\n<p>All these events \u2014 Kaldheim, Kamigawa, New Capenna \u2014 were not coincidences. Elesh Norn was orchestrating a <strong>multiplanar invasion<\/strong>. The <strong>Invasion of the Machines<\/strong> was imminent.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Dominaria United<\/h2>\n\n<p>Eventually, the Phyrexian threat reached <strong>Dominaria<\/strong> \u2014 the center of the Multiverse, the world where so many stories had begun and ended. Together, they searched for the Golgothian Sylex while fending off the Phyrexian vanguard.<\/p>\n\n<p>But the losses were terrible. <strong>Jaya Ballard<\/strong> fell to Ajani \u2014 their former friend, now <strong>compleated<\/strong> by the Phyrexians.
